Mr. Harter has returned to his position as school librarian after spending four years in his native Shenandoah Valley, where he worked as the college archivist and curator of the Reuel B. Pritchett Museum at Bridgewater College. While at Bridgewater, he also advised the college newspaper, Veritas, and taught journalism.
Although he enjoyed his job at Bridgewater, he soon realized that SMS was where he was being called to live, work, and use his unique skills to support the school's mission of educating young women for life. In addition to his main role as the school's information provider, Mr. Harter looks forward to teaching journalism and finding other ways to share his love of history (especially the American Civil War). Formerly the junior varsity softball coach, he has exchanged his bat and glove for oars as the assistant crew coach (the doo-rag remains).
Mr. Harter lives on campus with his wife and fellow teacher Tracy, his daughter and future SMS girl Lauren, Elliott the dog, and Sadie the crazy cat.
